The Storage Saint-Ouen-L'Aumône

The French Artist Philippe Pasqua presents an exhibition combining sculptures, paintings and drawings. For a reminder of the art of his beginnings, but also to discover his most recent creations, Philippe chose the monumental 3000m2 gallery of The Storage to do so. A past and present that inspired the name of the exhibition, Versus.

Around thirty art works are exhibited in the gardens and the interior space of the museum. From his first paintings on jute fabric, to the bronze sculptures, the strength of his work, in the monumental and the choice of themes do not leave the public indifferent. The incisive vision of the artist rotates between brutality and great finesse.

The exhibition welcomes photographs of the models Pasqua has painted or drawn, a start that encourages us to encounter. Then, two enormous paintings of almost 6 x 5 meters, surrounding a bronze covered in black sculpture, imposing and intriguing, echoing the huge bronze olive tree sculpture exposed in the far end of the gallery.

Inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s “Last Supper”, Philippe Pasqua’s “La Cène” sculpture finds itself exposed solitarily in the gallery leaving us the space to discover every aspect of it. On the top floor, thirteen paintings ranging from 1990 to 1995 complete the journey of the exhibition.
